It isn't a shocking revelation that often a multi-platform game gets downgraded because of its console counterpart. In today's case, upcoming The Division is the game that got downgraded on PC just so the consoles can catch up to it. This isn't really surprising because this tradition has been going on for quite some time.
The news is coming from a Ubisoft developer who prefers to stay anonymous, the developer revealed this information to a YouTube team known as Epiphany. The team was invited to New York City to test out the post beta build of The Division and the developer revealed this concerning information to them.
Check out the statement from the developer below:
It is definitely a [factor]. But one good thing about The Division is that we've always considered PC as a separate platform. I've worked on projects before where the PC version's a port from a console, so it carries those limitations over, but we've always been in the mind that we'll have a dedicated PC build, so it hasn't really held it back too much.
He further went on and said:
We do have to kind of keep it in check with consoles because it would kind of be unfair just to push it so far away from them.
So that being said, in all honesty, holding back the PC version just because consoles can't keep it up seems kind of unfair. With that out of the way, it's fairly safe to say that the PC version is still going to outperform the console counterparts in almost every possible way.
The Division is coming to PC, PS4 and Xbox One on March 8th, later this year. Let us know what you think in the comments below and stay tuned for more.
