iOS 7 Beta 2 now available - includes iPad and iPad mini 2013
Apple pushed out iOS 7 beta 2 to developers and the full release should land this fall
Apple has released iOS 7 beta 2 to developers and this should include a
bunch of bug fixes and improvements for the next generation of the
iPhone's software.
The iOS 7 beta 2 software is currently available on device with the iOS 7 beta
and you can get to it by going to your Settings, hit General and then
tap on Software Update. The iOS 7 beta 2 should be available through the
Apple Developer Center later today.
Some things I would really like to see in the iOS 7 beta 2 include a
major improvement to battery life and some overall stability
improvements. I've been using the iOS 7 beta for a few weeks now and the
battery life is quite atrocious right now. That's somewhat expected
from the very first version but it really does need to improve.
The iOS 7 beta also has a lot of things that basically don't work.
For example, Bluetooth seems to be broken for me and this kind of
negates cool new things like AirDrop. Again, it's really not fair to
beat up on Apple for the bugs in the first beta because this isn't
released to general users.
In our look at iOS 7,
we took a look at the radical revamping of the user interface. It's
still the same icons-in-a-grid where you dive into a single app at a
time but nearly every aspect of it has been redesigned. The new look can
be somewhat jarring at first but it's still the same iOS you love
underneath the new coat of paint.
Some notable new features of iOS 7 include the new interface, iTunes
Radio, AirDrop, a Control Center to quickly toggle things on and off, an
improved Siri, a revamped App Store, an improved Safari and a whole lot
more. Look for iOS 7 to be released for iPhones and iPads this fall.
